What is Licorice?

Licorice, also known as Glycyrrhiza glabra, is a plant native to Europe and Asia. Ancient Egyptians were known to brew the Licorice root into a tea-like concoction as a cure-all remedy. In traditional Chinese medicine, it was also used to soothe gastrointestinal problems. Taking Licorice orally can also help the body produce healthy mucus, and can help to naturally provide relief to the adrenal gland, as it is often exhausted from producing adrenaline and cortisol.
